Hatsune Miku, Vocaloid Producers and Mainstream Western Music Collide With the BEYOND BORDERs Project
Japan's biggest Vocaloid producers hit the U.S. stage with new Hatsune Miku music during Anime Expo
LOS ANGELES - June 26, 2026 - Japanese media company Dwango has partnered with Nebula17 to launch BEYOND BORDERs, a global initiative supported by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs that aims to expand Vocaloid culture beyond Japan and introduce it to new audiences worldwide. This collaboration will have Japan's top Vocaloid producers working with leading U.S. producers and songwriters to bring Vocaloid culture to mainstream Western music with new songs. World-renowned Virtual Singer Hatsune Miku will be the main vocalist, partnering with illustrious global artists to create groundbreaking tracks that will transform Vocaloid culture. Fans attending the upcoming 206 Anime Expo will get to hear these new songs live on July 4 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. PT at JAPAN MUSIC VOCALOID, a free concert at The Novo in Los Angeles.
Vocaloid producers kz (livetune), SatapanP, Hachiōji-P, and picco will perform at JAPAN MUSIC VOCALOID, with DJ and producer TeddyLoid, known for the 2014 hit "ME!ME!ME!," making a special appearance.
The BEYOND BORDERs project will roll out throughout summer 2026 with a series of collaborative singles, culminating in the release of an EP in fall 2026.

SatapanP, a Vocaloid producer who surpassed 1 million YouTube subscribers within two years of their debut
picco, a Vocaloid producer who calls his music "Hyper kawaii Music"
jon-YAKITORY, a Vocaloid producer currently drawing attention whose 2024 release "Chaos Boogie" was a hit at home and abroad, surpassing 98 million YouTube views
Charles "Scootie" Anderson, a Grammy-winning producer and member of the pop duo Social House, known for Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next" and "7 Rings"
Grant Boutin, who worked on tracks including TATE McRae's "So Close to What"
Byrd, a Grammy-winning producer behind Bad Bunny's "Yonaguni" and the Grammy-winning album "Un Verano Sin Ti"
Cecile Believe, a co-writer and lead vocalist on Sophie's album "Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides"
Xansei, known for producing XG's "Shooting Star"
