Nintendo hosted a Nintendo Switch event in India on September 5-6 at R City Mall in Mumbai. The event let players watch and try demos of:

  • Nintendo Switch Sports
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Super Mario Bros. Wonder
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The event did not include Nintendo's latest console the Switch 2 (pictured right).

A volunteer at the event stated to IGN India that while "it would be far fetched to say that they are officially entering [the Indian market], right now they are just testing the waters."

In a similar move, Bushiroad hosted its Bushiroad Expo 2025 exhibition at Jio World Center during Mumbai Comic-Con in April 2025. The representatives of the company had stated to ANN that the exhibition was all Indian fans could look forward to for the time being, but that the company was looking to build a presence in the country and was looking into interest from audiences, licensors, and retailers.

Nintendo recently filed a suit against a Patna-based real estate company for using the name "Nintendo." The Hindu reported on August 9 that The Delhi High Court had restrained the real estate company from using the name, stating that it infringes the trademark rights of Nintendo Co. Ltd.
