Kadokawa and Gramedia's Phoenix Gramedia company announced on Tuesday that it has licensed Fumiaki Maruto and Yom's Imasara Desu ga, Osananajimi o Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita light novel, and will release it "soon."
The story centers on the relationship between high school girl Hikari and her childhood friend of 10 years nicknamed Ta-kun. Now as high schoolers, their relationship becomes closer and closer, until it reaches a turning point. Though seemingly straightforward, their romance takes unexpected twists and turns later in the story.
Maruto and Yom launched the light novel and manga at the same time, and they continue to be serialized. Maruto serializes the chapters in the note website, with accompanying illustrations by Yom. Yom also draws the manga adaptation, which runs in both X/Twitter and Comic Apanta.
Kadokawa published the first novel volume and the first compiled book volume for the manga both in August 2025, and released the second novel volume and second manga volume on March 10.
Maruto is perhaps best known for penning the story to the White Album 2 romantic drama visual novel. The visual novel inspired a 2010 television anime. Maruto also wrote the Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata (How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend) light novel series, which inspired a manga adaptation, two television anime seasons, and a film. Maruto is also the head writer for the Classroom Crisis, Engage Kiss, SI-VIS: The Sound of Heroes original anime.
