The London International Animation Festival will include the UK premiere screening of Jinsei (Mumei no Jinsei), the first feature anime film from the independent anime director Ryūya Suzuki.

The screening will be on Sunday November 29 at 1.30 p.m. at the Garden Cinema, near Covent Garden. The film's website page is here and tickets will go on sale on October 15. The film is described at the festival website as follows:

"What if one life could contain a hundred different lives? Ryūya Suzuki's Jinsei follows an unnamed man from bullied schoolboy to aspiring J-pop idol, outcast, leader and oracle, with each new chapter bringing a new name – and a whole new reality. What begins as an intimate coming-of-age story soon hurtles into something much stranger: social satire, revenge drama, dystopian sci-fi and existential fever dream.

"And then there's the animation. Suzuki wrote, directed, drew, edited and scored the entire 93-minute film himself, completing this wildly ambitious debut in just 18 months. The result is raw, lo-fi and gloriously unpredictable – a handmade universe that can veer from tenderness to violence, pop culture absurdity to cosmic speculation without warning."

Ryūya Suzuki is credited with the original work and as the director, animation director, art director, compositing director of photography, color key artist, character designer, editor, and composer. Kenji Iwaisawa (ON-GAKU: Our Sound, Hina is Beautiful director) is the producer.

The film opened at Tokyo's Shinjuku Musashino-kan theater and other theaters in Japan in May 2025, and also screened at last year's Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The film additionally screened at last year's Tokyo International Film Festival in October.

Suzuki's "Mahoroba" short won awards at independent film festivals in Japan in 2021, and his "Lawless Love" animated short won the Japan Grand Prix award at the New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival in 2022.
