posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The 13th and final compiled book volume of Oreko Tachibana's Firefly Wedding (Hotaru no Yomeiri) manga announced on Monday that Tachibana will launch a new manga in Shogakukan's Manga ONE app this coming winter. The preview teases the manga as centering on two powerful leaders who are at odds and must never fall in love: the prince of a country of men, and the chief of a country of women.
Viz Media publishes the Firefly Wedding manga in English, and it describes the story:
On the surface, Satoko has it all—she's beautiful, the daughter of a nobleman, and at a prime age for marriage. Unfortunately, she is also quite ill and only has a short time left to live. Before she can secure a marriage that will redeem her worth in her family's eyes, she finds herself the target of the mysterious assassin Shinpei, and her plans are put in jeopardy. In order to save herself, she makes a desperate proposal—of marriage! When it comes to love, however, Shinpei takes “until death do we part” seriously.
Tachibana launched the manga on the Manga ONE app in January 2023, and ended it on February 2. Tachibana also drew seven spinoff chapters, releasing once every month, from February 2 to August 3. The first two chapters were titled "Koi to Doku." The latter five chapters were titled "Hitokiri to Yōdō." The chapters were compiled into the spinoff volume, which released on the same day as the main manga's 13th volume on Monday. Viz Media released the eighth volume in English on October 13.
The manga is inspiring an ongoing television anime that debuted on October 9 and airs on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block that airs on Fridays at 11:30 p.m. Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs. The manga is also inspiring a live-action television adaptation that is slated to debut in 2027.
