Fortnite Game Pays Homage to 1st One Piece Opening in New Video

Hours after Epic Games launched the latest One Piece collaboration season of its massively popular battle royale game Fortnite Battle Royale, it released a new trailer in homage to the One Piece anime's first-ever opening. The two-minute video features the song “We Are!” by Hiroshi Kitadani, along with One Piece characters Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, Portgas D. Ace, and Buggy. Several Fortnite Battle Royale characters are also featured in the new trailer - including Jones, Hope, Peely, Fishstick, Geno, Oscar - and season characters Captain X, Charlotte-sensei, and Kawaii Team Leader. The video is available in both Japanese and English, though both use the original Japanese version of the theme song.

Toei Animation produced the video, and Kokoro Kondo directed it. Tetsuo Yajima provided the storyboard and Chiharu Akakura the character designs. Animation directors included Yuki Yoshida, Tetsuro Niregi, Kōdai Kitahara, and Chiharu Akakura. Key animators were Chris, Yū Yoshiyama, Fuyuko Iwata, Taiki Endo, Sora Kawamitsu, Hayato Kurosaki, Lucca Weston, Yuki Yoshida, Kenta Nakata, Madoka Mizutani, Chico, and Toki Okuzono. Misa Nishimura acted as color designer with Yuto Ueda as art director. Shiho Ito was the producer for the trailer video.

Fortnite Battle Royale “Treasure Hunters” launched on November 1, and it will run until December 4.

The Elbaph arc of the One Piece anime debuted in Japan on April 5. Crunchyroll streamed the arc. More episodes will premiere next year.
