Lezhin Ent. to Launch AI Character Chat Service Teaz in Korea
posted on by Wonhee Cho

Lezhin Entertainment will launch Teaz, an AI character chat service based on its webtoon intellectual properties (IPs), on October 19 in Korea.
Announced on October 12, Teaz will allow users to interact directly with characters from original series published on Lezhin Comics and Bomtoon. Users can participate in conversations as one of the characters or interact with them from a third-person perspective.
The service uses officially licensed IPs and features relationship-based conversations in which characters' responses and relationships change depending on users' choices. Teaz will also include game-like collection elements, allowing users to collect hidden illustrations and items created by the original webtoon artists.
Teaz will initially launch as a web service, with a mobile app planned for a later date. Additional features, including a text-based role-playing game mode, will be introduced in stages.
Lezhin Entertainment has not yet stated if it will expand the service into English in the future.
Lezhin Entertainment's parent company, KidariStudio, said it will continue expanding its media offerings by combining content IPs with technology.
The launch follows a broader trend of webtoon platforms using AI-powered character chats to expand reader engagement. In July 2026, Naver WEBTOON launched byUs, a story chat service that lets users create narratives with characters from creator-approved webtoon IPs, beginning with Ctrl+Alt+Resign. The company had previously introduced its Character Chat service in South Korea in June 2024, which surpassed 100 million messages by June 2025, before expanding the service to Japan through LINE Manga in February 2026.
The launches by Naver WEBTOON and Lezhin Entertainment reflect growing interest in AI-powered character interactions as a way to extend webtoon IPs beyond their original stories.
