It's that time of the year again: the cherry blossoms fall, and the April Fool's pranks fly. Japan's anime, manga and video game industries are fun-loving enough to participate in this tradition every year. Here are 2017's best anime-related April Fool's pranks.

April 1st Anime

A website for a new original anime project opened, bosting character designs by Kiseki Himura (Sword Art Online: Progressive manga), scripts by Hajime Kamoshida (The Pet Girl of Sakurasou), and animation from PINE JAM. No title has been announced, though — the website simply lists it as "April 1st Anime."

The virtual idol's ongoing Galaxy Tour will now include a theme park on Mars. The Crypton Future World theme park will have Princess Miku's castle, an ice rink, a roller coaster, parades, and more when it opens in 2039. [Link]

A website opened for an anime adaptation of Bkub Okawa's Hoshiiro Girldrop web manga, complete with an animated promo — but the manga itself already revealed itself as a fake last year, a gag to announce more of Okawa's Pop Team Epic manga.
