Super Sentai Fans Vote for Their Favorites on 50th Anniversary

On Saturday, the NHK BS channel revealed the results of the Zen Super Sentai Dai Tōhyō (All Super Sentai Grand Vote) poll for Super Sentai fans' favorites on the live-action franchise's 50th anniversary. The poll was split into three categories: Sentai series (of 50), Sentai hero (of 300), and Sentai robot (of 160). The top spots of the respective categories are, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (2011), Shinken Red/Takeru Shiba (played by Tori-o Matsuzaka) from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (2009), and Don Onitaijin from Avataro Sentai Donbrothers (2022).

The number two and three spots for Sentai series are Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger (2023) and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. For Sentai hero, Gokai Red/Captain Marvelous (Ryota Ozawa) from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and Don Momotaro/Taro Momoi (Kōhei Higuchi) from Avataro Sentai Donbrothers took second and third. GokaiOh from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and King-Ohger from Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger came in second and third for the Sentai robot category.

NHK ran the poll as part of its long-running Zen Maru Maru Dai Tōhyō (All [Insert Topic] Grand Vote) television specials. This is the first time in three years the program is covering Super Sentai and is in celebration of the franchise's 50th anniversary. Participants voted on their favorite Sentai series, Sentai hero, and Sentai robot between April 5 to May 6.
Zen Super Sentai Dai Tōhyō aired on NHK BS on May 17. The program will be available on NHK's streaming service NHK+ for one week. Viewers must pay the NHK license fee to access NHK+.
