The hand-drawn anime-style video teases the story of an artist from Delhi who happens upon a lantern that can heal the cracks in his relationships

Indian company GD Production Studio began streaming a 4K trailer for its upcoming 2D animated project Before Again on October 18. The hand-drawn anime-style video teases the story of an artist from Delhi who happens upon a lantern that can heal the cracks in his relationships.

IGN India reported on Wednesday that production of the project is still underway and that the company plans to release a full trailer in the months ahead. It is still undecided if the final project will be a YouTube series or a theatrical feature, but GD Production Studio is seeking screening opportunities. The staff however mentioned that the timeline for completion of the project depends on the format. The staff stated to IGN India that a theatrical feature would take a few years to complete, but a YouTube series could debut as soon as a few months ahead.

As for the language of the film, much like the teaser it will release in Hindi but also debut with an English dub to reach a wider audience in a country with so many different language speakers. According to IGN India the studio also plans to "explore" regional dubs in Tamil, Telugu, and other languages based on demand.

While the project seems a ways away from completion, the quality of the animation seems to be on par with Pakistani company Mano Animation Studios' claim to fame The Glassworker, which was released last year. While India is a leading force in the world of 3D SFX, it's about time Indian studios also throw their hat into the 2D ring. This new project, drawing upon story beats and art styles from Studio Colorido and even Studio Ghibli, makes it clear that GD Production has its work cut out for it. But fans can't get enough and are waiting with bated breath for more developments in their project.
