Branches of the SF/fantasy retailer announced some of their highest footfall for a Pokémon event to date

In a press release, the SF/fantasy store chain Forbidden Planet announced that the recent Pokémon Day 2026 on Friday February 27 had some of its branches announcing "some of their highest single-day footfall figures for a Pokémon event to date."

Also according to the press release, "plans are already underway for even bigger events in the future."

Pokémon Day falls annually on February 27, commemorating the Japanese release of the game Pokémon Red and Green thirty years ago in 1996. The 2026 Pokémon Day saw the announcement of the game Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, to be released in 2027 on the Nintendo Switch 2 console.
