Toho Entertainment Asia Buffs Up Its Title Lineup With Palace Drama Anime Though I Am an Inept Villainess

Singapore, June 15, 2026 – TOHO Entertainment Asia (TEA) announces the addition of Though I Am an Inept Villainess to its selection of animation titles. The series is set to premiere on July 12, 2026 across Asia on Netflix and various other platforms worldwide.

Based on the critically acclaimed light novel by Satsuki Nakamura, viewers are taken into the chaos of the imperial court as the beloved court butterfly Kou Reirin finds herself swapped into the body of the scorned court rat Shu Keigetsu in a tale of crossed fates and palace politics.

“TEA is excited to broaden our offerings with Though I Am an Inept Villainess,” said Fabio Murayama, Managing Director of TEA. “As the main company handling this title, we hope to solidify our business across Asia through key collaborations and merchandise development using an exciting new series alongside our selection of fan- favourites.”

Apart from Though I Am an Inept Villainess, TOHO Entertainment Asia is one of the co-merchandising partners for both the highly popular Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 as well as the sci-fi action/adventure series Snowball Earth alongside collaborator MUSE. TEA also handles the historical mystery title The Apothecary Diaries, and the romantic comedy The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Season 2. The company represents these titles primarily within Asia.

A new trailer for Though I Am an Inept Villainess was released on June 9, which includes a cast highlight featuring industry veterans such as Ai Kayano (Shu Gabi) and Inori Minase (Ran Houshun). It also features the opening theme “Sunny” by acclaimed singer-songwriter milet.
