Mika is celebrating successful exams by visiting Kaname for some adult time together. She refers to Kaname as “sir” and wears a little collar he's given her. Together they visit her family to continue the celebration. That night, Mika tells Kaname that her parents are probably having sex after dinner, and tries to get Kaname to have sex with her.

But Kaname is approached by Mika's mother first, fresh out of the conjugal bed. Mika finds Kaname and her mother having sex in the shower, but is shocked to see that Yuuka also has a collar…!

Kaname and Mika obviously have some more complicated relationship implied by the collar and the “sir,” but we are not truly privy to this mystery. Nor do we get even the slightest glimpse of what relationship Yuuka and Kaname have. She implies that, like Yuuka, the collar was a gift from Kaname. How long have they known one another/ We'll never know.

This little doujinshi packs a lot of information, but little narrative structure in its 47 pages. There are many unanswered mysteries here, but thankfully, it's not important to this sex tool of a doujinshi.

Art is clean, fairly typical for a doujinshi of this kind, with insane angles so we see genitalia distended and full of male organs, just the way readers like it. I'm also going to coin “same nipple” syndrome for all 18+ manga. To date, I have never once seen an erotic doujinshi that bothered giving women different breasts. I assure you women have different shaped and sized breasts. They do not all look identical. I imagine a quick search on the Internet might clear that up. Sometimes, as I read these 18+ comics, I think of my Dad's old Playboy magazine—which I read for the articles, sincerely— and I'm sad that so many of those pinups would be seen as inadequate by today's standards.

Of course, every one of the main characters is well-endowed, and apparently skilled. Sex is amazing, obviously. This is not a story for a discerning reader, but it might be resolved in whatever series it obviously belongs to.

If you're looking for a hentai where a blank-faced MC has sex with both his girlfriend and his girlfriend's mom (who look so similar as to be nearly confusing), then Matsuka's Midnight Rendezvous might be for you! I say “might” because there are a LOT of raunchy manga that fit that description and this itch might be better scratched elsewhere. This work isn't outright bad or problematic by the standards of smut fiction. Still, it is so haphazardly strung together that I have a hard time suspending my disbelief even for a work that's overtly operating on porno world logic.

Midnight Rendezvous begins with our protagonist, Kaname, celebrating the woman he's tutoring, Yuuka, passing her college entrance exams by having sex with her and then going to her family's home for a celebratory dinner. Here he meets Yuuka's mother, Mika, who also happens to be his sexual partner. The party goes well. Everyone has a bit too much to drink, Mika has sex with (her seemingly super nice) husband, and then Kaname and Mika hook up in the house, with Yuuka ultimately discovering their relationship in the final pages.

While this cliffhanger and the simmering relationship between Kaname and Mika are at least attempts at establishing narrative tension, both are undercut by this work's limited artistic direction and plot points. Yuuka and Mika look nearly identical to me, and that makes this affair more logistically confusing than erotic. It also doesn't help that the characters talk up being into rough and kinky sex, and yet most of the sex acts on display in this work are fairly vanilla. Also, Kaname gave both Mika and Yuuka the day collar to wear, and I have a hard time believing the mother and daughter wouldn't clock the other wearing that symbolic item just because one's wearing it as a necklace while the other wears it as a bracelet.

The final bit of avoidable confusion that makes this work more perplexing than titillating is that this is apparently the latest entry in a multi-volume series by Matsuka. There's no labeling on the work that makes this clear, and the Irodori Comics website doesn't do a great job of labeling what order you should read these works in. Through some trial and error, I was able to piece together the overarching narrative, but Midnight Rendezvous isn't improved much by the added context of the additional volumes.

If you're into MILF hentai with NTR and slightly incestuous themes, there's better material out there than Midnight Rendezvous.

Midnight Rendezvous feels like it's missing half of its plot and setup. So, our protagonist Kaname has a dom/sub relationship with his girlfriend Yuuka, but also apparently they had some time apart, and during that time Kaname had a sex-friend. And that sex-friend was... Yuuka's mom? And while Yuuka knows that Kaname had a sex-friend, she didn't know it was her mother. Also, when Kaname visits Yuuka's parents, Yuuka's father wanted a chat with Kaname—but we don't know what it was they talked about. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to take away from this; Yuuka sees that apparently Kaname might give her mother a BDSM collar like the one she wears, but for something that wants this relationship to be a shock, we have no insight into the relationship. It feels like there's only half of a set-up here.

The artwork is the high point of this chapter. Sure, Kaname has massive boobs, but that comes with the “milf” territory. And I give Matsuka credit for actually drawing backgrounds (even if Kaname doesn't have a face—are a pair of eyes that hard to draw?!). There's really good anatomical detailing here, and Kaname and Yuuka's encounters feel fun. I feel like Matsuka is aiming for a second volume of Midnight Rendezvous, and I'm looking forward to it—but mostly because it'll make this chapter feel complete.
