Birthday Event for Re:Zero's Twins Reaches 3,000 Visitors, Adds Drink Giveaway

The Shibuya Marui department store in Tokyo is holding the "Re:Zero -Starting Ram and Rem's Birthday Life- 2018" event from January 20 to February 5. The event marks the birthday of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-'s Ram and Rem on February 2. The event has been a success and attracted more than 3,000 visitors in its first five days, which is more than planners expected. In celebration, Bushiroad Creative announced that it will offer chanmery (non-alcoholic sparkling drink for festive occasions) as an additional bonus item for customers.
People who visit the event on the twin characters' birthday will be eligible to receive the chanmery. For every purchase of at least 5,000 yen (about US$46), fans will receive one chanmery while supplies last. The promotion is offering only 500 bottles.
A bakery in Japan also offered Re:Zero chanmery for Christmas in 2016.
The original Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- light novel illustrator Shinichirou Otsuka provided special illustrations for Shibuya Marui's event. The campaign is offering a variety of exclusive merchandise featuring the illustrations.
People who spend at least 3,000 yen (US$26) on designated merchandise at the event receive a special booklet written by the original light novels' author Tappei Nagatsuki. They also received a set of two paper coasters until supplies ran out on Thursday. Fans will now receive a mini shopping bag until supplies run out or February 5. In addition, people who spend at least 3,000 yen each on two separate days receive an event logo tin badge.
Sega will hold a separate "Winter Campaign" birthday celebration event for Ram and Rem from January 27 to February 25, as well as a collaboration cafe from January 27 to March 11. The campaign features exclusive merchandise with wedding and Valentine's Day designs.
