Traditional Iron Craftsman Shape Zaku Into Formidable Kettle

The world of Gundam is high-tech but something about it fits perfectly in classic Japanese art. The mecha have appeared in numerous woodblock prints, bujinga ink paintings, and was even adapted into a rakugo performance. Discovery-G, an initiative specifically to spread awareness of Japanese traditional art through Gundam, has a new item focusing on Iwate prefecture's iron works history.
Artisans in Oshu, Iwate created a kettle designed after the mass-produced Zaku mecha's head and two smaller iron figurines of the MSM-04 Acguy mecha and the Haro robot. According to Premium Bandai, the kettle weighs about 5.5lbs.
The kettle costs 24,840 yen (US$218) and each iron figurine is 2,160 yen (US$19). All the items are available for pre-order on Premium Bandai's site until November 23 with orders expected to ship in February 2019. Some Gundam Cafe stores will also sell a limited quantity beginning on November 23.
