Whether You Want to Develop a Game or Become A Magical Girl, Anime India Delhi Had a Panel for Everyone
posted on by Adriana Hazra
The third Anime India convention concluded in Delhi last Sunday with a performance by YURiKA and a total footfall of 43,000. The convention had the presence of major anime licensers, educational institutions from Japan and across India, as well as workshops and panels for every interest you can imagine. Voice acting enthusiasts were in for an especially sweet treat as not only did Kazuhiko Inoue partake in interviews, meet and greets, and live voice action sessions, but he also invited seven lucky fans to act in a scene with him!

The convention kicked off on June 6 with a small opening ceremony on the main stage and with the return of "My Little Quiz Can't Be This Cute" on the Shoutengai stage. However, participants who wanted a more family-friendly quiz experience headed to the Meet and Greet stage later in the day to participate in a quiz that incorporated both their anime knowledge and artistic prowess.

Those in need of a quick merch fix were also not left wanting as Muse Asia's quiz on the main stage gave away prizes from their merch booth.

While Muse hosted one of the most alluring booths at the convention with a giant chibi Nezuko, other brands were not to be left behind. Anime Times also revealed its merch collection for India with a massive booth at the convention and beybladers "let it rip" at Takara Tomy's Beyblade X booth.

Other Japanese brands like Toyota and UNIQLO also had booths at the convention as did their new educational partner Kansai University. The event was jam packed with panels and resources for students as well as industry professionals. Both days hosted the "Gaming Studio Panel" and "Game Design Panel" on the main stage where Indian developers spoke about the realities of the industry and about their creative efforts in representing their country in their original IPs.
The Verses Experience was back bigger and better than ever with tourneys, arcade machines, and more.

In the spirit of a proper anime convention, Anime India hosted some of its more unique competitions in the form of a "Mahou Shoujo Dress-Up War: Create Your Own Magical Girl" event. Back from previous iterations of the convention was the "Anime India Aidol" singing competition. Also similar to the previous Kolkata event, the Delhi event brought fresh perspectives from collectors and for collectors in fan panels such as "A Collector's Journey with Siddharth Chugh" and "Introduction to Gunpla."
The weekend ended with YURiKA's concert, but not before she did a stage interview and a meet-and-greet with fans. During the interview the "Shiny Ray" singer talked about how the butter chicken in India was too spicy for her and her relationship with the anime Little Witch Academia. She then turned the microphone to the fans, asking them what each of their favorite anime was.

The weekend filled with music, media, and magic had to end at some point but won't be away for long. Anime India will be back next in Mumbai from August 28 through August 30 at NESCO Goregaon.
