When I was a child we didn't have money to buy manga magazines, and could only read them sporadically from hand-me-downs.

Dynamic Production

From Gō Nagai
He was a distinguished manga creator who paved the way for sports manga. He was also kind person filled with a love for humanity. I feel as though the manga industry lost its central pillar.
To me, he was a friend I traveled together and played golf with, and a manga veteran I admired.
I am stricken with grief my heart is distraught, but as a manga creator following in his wake, I hope to work to make a bright future for the manga industry. I believe that is what Chiba-sensei would have wanted.
May you be reunited with [your younger brother] Akio in the afterlife. May you rest in peace

Geshumaro (I Want a Gal Gamer to Praise Me)

Tetsuya Chiba-sensei…
I wish we could have met once more.
You looked after me from the time you were my entrance exam application reviewer, the seminar trips, and up to my graduation; you even congratulated me in person at my wedding.
Your warmth was like the embodiment of the sun and I will always love you.
May you rest in peace.

Tetsuya Chiba is…
I was a person who read his works since I was a child. He wsa a person who looked a people with kindness. The last time I saw him was at the Tezuka Award. His feet were a bit unsteady, but he answered questions clearly. It's such a shame. Thank you for you years of hards work. Please rest in peace.

Even before the opening of the Ishinomori Manga Museum in 2001, Tetsuya Chiba-sensei has supported Ishinomaki

Hiroshi Masumura (Atagoal wa Neko no Mori)

I couldn't help…but say…”what.” Tetsuya Chiba. He is beyond the realm of “sensei” and made me a manga creator, showed me the allure of manga, and a demon when it came to drawing. He even slipped in my name the draft of one of his works… I always struggled with kanji, but out of respect for Tetsuya Chiba I wrote my penname in hiragana characters. Clasp hands in prayer.

Yasuo Ohtagaki (Moonlight Mile, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt)

It goes without saying he made countless wonderful work, and the Tetsuya Chiba Award was coveted gateway for young creators. To think how many talented creators won the award. May Tetsuya Chiba-sensei, a leader and titan in the manga industry, rest in peace.

Shin'ichi Sakamoto (#DRCL midnight children)

The blurb Tetusya Chiba-sensei wrote for the wraparound jacket band on the 15th volume of The Climber are an irreplaceable treasure. The handwritten letter I received then is still framed on my wall. His kind words have saved me countless times.
When we met in person, I still remember his soft hands when we shook.

Tetsuji Sekiya (Bambino!)

I would greet you every year at the Shueisha golf tournament, be we never played a round together.
Even so, you took interest in my score and would on occasion praise me.
You even won last year's tournament and I looked forward to seeing you again this year, but it's such a shame.
I wanted to ask you about so many scenes from Ashita Tenki ni Nāre while played a round…

Thank you so much during the 50th anniversary of Weekly Shōnen Magazine.

It's a given, but as time go on my sempai and mentors who are older than me are slowly passing away. Their numbers never increase. It's heartbreaking. I want to cherish my sempai.
