Music Awards Japan Nominates Creepy Nuts' 'Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,' YOASOBI's 'Idol,' Mrs. Green Apple's 'Lilac' for Best Song

The Japan Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA) confirmed on Wednesday the nominees for its inaugural Music Awards Japan event. The awards nominated Creepy Nuts' "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" (from Mashle: Magic and Muscles), YOASOBI's "Idol" (from Oshi no Ko), and Mrs. Green Apple's "Lilac" (from Oblivion Battery) for Best Song. The same three songs were also nominated for Best Japanese Song. They are also nominees for Best Anime Song along with "Dai Zero Kan" by 10-FEET (from The First Slam Dunk).

Other nominees for Best Song include Fujii Kaze's "Michiteyuku" and ROSÉ & Bruno Mars' "APT."

Creepy Nuts, Mrs. Green Apple, YOASOBI, and Vaundy were nominated for Best Artist, along with Fujii Kaze. Nominees for Best New Artist include FRUITS ZIPPER, Omoinotake, and Kocchi no Kento. Number_i and tuki. also received nominations.

Best Album nominees include Mrs. Green Apple's ANTENNA, Kenshi Yonezu's LOST CORNER, Vaundy's replica, and Hikaru Utada's SCIENCE FICTION, as well as Fujii Kaze's LOVE ALL SERVE ALL. In the Top Global Hit from Japan category, the nominees are Lotus Juice and Azumi Takahashi's "It's Going Down Now" (from Persona 3 Reload), YOASOBI's "Idol," and Miki Matsubara's "Mayonaka no Door – Stay With Me." XG's "WOKE UP" and Fujii Kaze's "Shinunoga E-Wa also received nominations.

Creepy Nuts' "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" received nominations for Top Japanese Song in Asia, Top Japanese Song in North America, Top Japanese Song in Latin America, and Top Japanese Song in Europe. YOASOBI's "Idol" was also nominated in the same categories except Top Japanese Song in North America. King Gnu's "SPECIALZ" (from Jujutsu Kaisen) was also nominated in the same categories except Top Japanese Song in Asia. Kenshi Yonezu's "Kick Back" (from Chainsaw Man) was nominated for Top Japanese Song in North America and Europe. Lotus Juice and Azumi Takahashi's "It's Going Down Now" received a nomination for Top Japanese Song in North America.

Other nominees for various subcategories are listed on Japan Music Awards' website. Fans can vote on the categories online.

The ceremony will take place on May 21-22 at the ROHM Theater in Kyoto. The event will stream globally on YouTube, and the final day will broadcast live on NHK on May 22. The major award categories will be Song Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Artist Of The Year, New Artist Of The Year, Top Global Hit From Japan, and Best Song Asia.

The event is intended to honor the best musicians in Japan as well as international artists from all over Asia, and will have over 60 total award categories, including honors for "Vocaloid culture," anime, game soundtracks, and "idol culture."

An automated system will select entries based on an "objective metric tied to data" from Billboard Japan, Oricon, GfK/NIQ Japan, Luminate, and other sources, from which domestic voting members will select five nominees for each category. More than 5,000 music industry professionals from Japan and abroad will vote for the winners.

The CEIPA is a collaboration amongst five music industry bodies from Japan.
