Microsoft Raises Xbox Series X|S Console Prices Globally

Price increases also affect peripherals, new 1st-party games

Microsoft announced on Thursday that it is increasing prices globally for its Xbox Series X|S consoles and peripherals. As of Thursday in the U.S., Xbox Series X consoles have risen by US$100 or more, and Xbox Series S consoles have risen by US$80. Certain controllers and headsets have also risen by US$10. New first-party Xbox games will also retail at US$79.99 starting this holiday season.

Price increases in the U.S. for consoles are as follows:

  • Xbox Series S 512GB — US$299.99 to US$379.99
  • Xbox Series S 1TB — US$349.99 to US $429.99
  • Xbox Series X Digital — US$449.99 to US$549.99
  • Xbox Series X — US$499.99 to US$599.99
  • Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black — US$599.99 to US$729.99

Prices for peripherals as well as updated prices for other regions are listed on Microsoft's website.

Microsoft released its Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles in November 2020. The Xbox Series X originally retailed at US$499, and the Xbox Series S retailed at US$299.

The console has an updated AMD processor over 2013's Xbox One, GDDR6 memory, and a "next-generation" solid state drive, and also supports 8K resolution, hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and variable refresh rate.
