The Anime NYC convention announced over the past week that it will host a panel for Big West and the Macross franchise, as well as a premiere screening for SkySet Entertainment's English dub for the Go Forward (Massugu ni Ikō) television anime. The event will also host the world premiere screening for the English dub of the Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram (Detective Conan: Hyakuman Doru no Michishirube) anime film. All three panels will take place on August 22.
The Big West panel will highlight the Macross franchise, including updates on upcoming merchandise and projects, and will have an English-subtitled feature screening for Macross Delta the Movie: Passionate Walkūre. The film is a compilation film of the Macross Delta anime, but with added scenes to tell a new story, as well as additional songs. The film opened in Japan in 2018.
The English dub panel for Go Forward will screen the English-dubbed first episode, and will include a Q&A with the dub's director Phebe Fabacher. SkySet Entertainment announced the dub in May earlier this year. The company will stream the series as well as the sequel Massugu ni Ikō: Melon Pan-hen, and will release the dub in late summer this year. The anime premiered in 2003 and aired for four episodes. The sequel premiered in 2004 and aired five episodes.
The 27th film in the Detective Conan franchise opened in Japan in April 2024. The film ranked at #1 in its opening weekend, selling 2,274,333 tickets and earning 3,352,494,500 (about US$21.7 million) yen in its first three days. The film remains the highest-grossing film in the franchise. The film had its U.S. premiere screening at Anime Expo on July 4.
