The pair unites the TOYOTA AE86 of the story's protagonist, Takumi Fujiwara, with the SUBARU IMPREZA WRX (GC8) type R STi of his father, Bunta Fujiwara. Both models go on general sale on 30 September 2026 at watch retailers nationwide and the ANGEL CLOVER official online store.

From the winter of 2025, ANGEL CLOVER rolled out five watches commemorating the 30th anniversary of Initial D: Takumi Fujiwara's TOYOTA AE86, Ryōsuke Takahashi's MAZDA RX-7 (FC3S), Keisuke Takahashi's MAZDA RX-7 (FD3S), Mako Sato and Sayuki's NISSAN Sileighty, and Bunta Fujiwara's SUBARU IMPREZA WRX (GC8) type R STi. Their meticulous, mechanically detailed dials — drawing on each car's colors and instrument cluster — struck a chord with driving enthusiasts.

Building on that response, the series now marks the close of the anniversary year with its first models to feature an automatic movement. This chapter centers on a “father and son” pairing: the TOYOTA AE86 driven by Takumi, and the SUBARU IMPREZA WRX (GC8) type R STi of Bunta, the father who taught him to drive. The contrast between the son who inherited the AE86 and the father who still knows every corner of the pass — a lineage recounted throughout the story — is expressed as a matched pair of watches.

The centerpiece of this release is a mechanical automatic movement that uses neither battery nor solar power. Wound by the motion of the wrist, it keeps time much like a car that keeps on running. A skeleton dial lets the wearer watch the balance wheel — the “engine” of the watch — beating steadily behind the face at any moment.
