Familiar faces. Unexpected twists. An anime adaptation of “Red Riding Hood: A Detective Story” has been confirmed for 2027, featuring Yume Miyamoto as Red Riding Hood and Akira Sekine as Pinocchio in the main cast. Additionally, a teaser visual and teaser trailer have also been released.

The original work is the Red Riding Hood series by Aito Aoyagi, currently published by Futaba Bunko, which uniquely blends "fairy tales" with "authentic mysteries." The story follows Red Riding Hood as she solves various crimes and incidents in the fairy tale world during her journey. With over 600,000 copies in circulation, the series is actively expanding into a multi-media franchise, including a manga adaptation. Furthermore, the Netflix live-action movie adaptation made headlines by becoming the first Japanese film to rank No. 1 on the Weekly Global Top 10 list. I read quite a few mystery novels when I was younger, and I always held onto the dream of adapting a mystery novel into an anime someday. To think that now, after all this time, that dream is actually coming true!
