Mitia Lumiol is set to be another selfish jerk of a noble, one among many who elevate only those with pure bloodlines and great magic. Then, suddenly, she remembers her past life—a lonely, stifled one where her only solace was books and the characters who broke ground where the corrupt stood. Resolving to become just like her favorite villainess, Mitia targets the nobility who rule the land of Elmia with an iron fist. She'll meet kindness with mercy and meet cruelty with ruthlessness. And she isn't going to let anything get in her way—not nobles, not rioters, and certainly not the fact that she can only perform “worthless” household magic. Mitia will show them all what true evil is. And who knows? A cool, elegant villainess might be just what Elmia needs.

I'll Become an Elegant Villainess! Time to Enjoy My Second Life to the Fullest has a story by Shusui Hazuki and art by kururi. English translation is done by Olivia Plowman. Published by J-Novel Club (September 15, 2026).

Is It Worth Reading?

Rating:

Life outside the walls of our homes is chaotic, stressful, and often unresolvable. There is a place in this world for brain candy. And with global leadership not just blindly heading toward Armageddon, but actively racing towards it with commitment, I'm happy to die on the hill that absurdly silly, simplistic light novels about competent girls being terrible at being evil, but being good is not just light but required reading. Seriously, please give me more books about women cleaning up the words they live in than getting revenge on the jerks that messed it up in the first place. Thank you.

Here we are at I'll Become an Elegant Villainess! Time to Enjoy My Second Life to the Fullest. Her previous life is just useful enough to give her a glimpse into the garbage leadership of her world and her own family. Now she knows who has got to go, and she's ready to become the perfect, incredibly cool, villainess to wash the country clean.

Is this silly? Yes. Is this superficial? Yes, many times yes. Is it still pudding for the soul? Also yes. Having a hateful father defeated by an unloved daughter is so cathartic right now that I would gladly read another dozen of these bad at villanessing novels over one “serious” novel that purports to explain how we got to this miserable timeline. I'll Become an Elegant Villainess! Time to Enjoy My Second Life to the Fullest is not high art, but like the best of popular culture, it definitively scratches some itches.
