Mechanical Designer Katsushi Murakami DIes at 83

Murakami was born on September 23, 1942 in Gifu, Japan.
Murakami served as a mechanical designer for numerous anime including Shin Tetsujin 28, Gold Lightan - The Golden Warrior, Machine Robo: Battle Hackers, Video Warrior Laserion, Reideen the Brave, Gekisō! Rubenkaiser, Kishin Taisen Gigantic Formula, and Space Adventure Cobra. He designed cars for the F-Zero Falcon Densetsu anime, and he is also credited as a planner in 3x3 Eyes, Little Twins, and Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: The Movie.
He had joined Bandai in 1961, then worked for its subsidiary Popy. He is known for designing the Chogokin line of robot toys, with Chogokin being the metal used to construct the mecha Mazinger Z. He also designed toys for tokusatsu and sentai live-action shows such as Kamen Rider.
