Orient's Shinobu Ohtaka Launches New Manga

The official X (formerly Twitter) account for Kodansha's Magazine Pocket app announced on Tuesday that manga creator Shinobu Ohtaka will launch a new manga titled Geek and Crown (Geekrown) on October 27. The announcement teases that the story will center on a treasonous military officer in the middle of a succession crisis.

Ohtaka (Magi) launched the Orient manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in May 2018. The manga moved to Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in February 2021. The manga entered its final arc in July 2023, and ended in October 2024. Kodansha published the manga's 22nd and final compiled book volume in November 2024. Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the manga in English, and released the 20th volume on April 14.

The first cours (quarter of a year) of the manga's anime adaptation premiered in Japan in January 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the anime, and also streamed an English dub. The anime's second cours premiered on TV Tokyo in July 2022, and covered the "Awajishima Gekitō-hen" (Fierce Battle at Awaji Island Arc) of the original manga. Crunchyroll also streamed the anime's second cours, and an English dub.
