Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) held the finals of its 2026 AI Creative Contest on October 24 at Kakao AI Campus, inviting young children and elementary school students to create stories, songs, and webtoons using artificial intelligence.

The contest, held for the first time this year, was part of the ministry's National AI Competition and centered on the theme of "A Future Living Alongside AI."

Organizers provided four AI tools developed by South Korean companies: Solar, Math AI, Miricanvas, and Witoon. Preliminary rounds took place in 10 regions across the country, beginning in Busan on June 21, and drew approximately 1,700 participants.

Before creating their works, participants received instruction in AI ethics and how to use the tools. Mentors consisting of current elementary school teachers also helped children unfamiliar with the technology apply what they had learned.

The final round was organized as a family-oriented AI creative festival, drawing approximately 300 finalists and family members to Kakao AI Campus. Attendees also took part in various AI activities after the competition.
