The anime will debut in 2027.

The anime will star:

Ken'ichi Nishida (Good Bye, Dragon Life, Papuwa, Poka Poka Mori no Rascal) is directing the anime at Synergy SP and Vega Entertainment. Takahiro Nagano (Reincarnated as a Sword two seasons, Plannosaurus Gachi Koseibutsu Bu) is in charge of series scripts, and Nozomi Kawashige (Good Bye, Dragon Life) is designing the characters. Shinei Animation is in charge of production.

The duo originally launched the manga in 1983. Shogakukan published the 111th volume in December 2014. The manga has been on hiatus since 2014.

The manga depicts the "fierce food showdown" between the newspaper Tōzai Shimbun's "Ultimate Menu" and gourmand Yuzan Kaibara's "Supreme Menu."

A previous television anime adaptation from Shinei Animation aired for 136 episodes from 1988 to 1992. The anime also includes two additional specials.

Viz Media has published five volumes of Oishinbo on its VizManga.com digital manga service and Viz Manga App, and has also published the volumes in print.

The manga has also inspired several live-action series and a live-action film.
