The Nippon Foundation Spogomi World Cup 2025 India Qualifiers Announcement
Chennai, 24th April 2025: THE NIPPON FOUNDATION SPOGOMI WORLD CUP 2025 INDIA QUALIFIERS will take place on April 27th in Chennai at the Marina Beach. A regional qualifier was conducted at Kempambudhi Lake in Bengaluru on March 30th. Spogomi is a global sport in which teams of 3 members compete to see who can collect the most trash in a 1 hour period. The collected trash is then segregated, based on which points are awarded.
The top 5 teams from Bengaluru are invited to participate in the National Qualifiers in Chennai and provided with travel and accommodation. The winning team in the National Qualifiers will travel to Tokyo, Japan in October to participate in the Spogomi 2025 World Cup Final Event, representing India. The previous edition of the Spogomi World Cup was conducted in 2023, with the winning team Chennai Super Klean comprising Sharun A, Amrit A and Madhusudhanan Radha Thanikasalam representing India in Tokyo and securing 6th place. The event was won by the team from Great Britain.
This year, in addition to travel and accommodation, the best team names will receive special prizes, and there will be a cosplay contest conducted in parallel to the main event. The best cosplayer will accompany the winning team to Tokyo.
The event is organised by Float Events, Cirqt, AniSync and EFI, supported by the Asia Culture Club, Bengaluru Anime Club, Chennai Anime Club, and The Artists Collaborative, on behalf of the Spogomi World Cup 2025 Committee in Tokyo.
