What if one of the Laid-Back Camp girls got isekai'd into a story where a woman is trapped on a desert island? I can't prove that's the actual premise of Trapped on a Remote Island with the Male Leads, but watching heroine Margaret put her Girl Scout skills to good use makes me think it might be. Margaret's situation isn't all that dissimilar to those other isekai heroines have found themselves in on the surface: she's been reincarnated into a book she was reading when she died back in South Korea, but she's somehow ended up as the villainess rather than the heroine. Margaret may not have finished reading the novel, but she's got something even better on her side: survival skills. Our girl can spear fish, create beds and shelters, gut a fish, and cook over a campfire. She knows how to stay hydrated and where caves are most likely to be. The male leads may kill her eventually, but the environment will not.

And, let's be honest, the male leads probably won't either, because we've read enough iterations of this story by now. So far, Margaret is stuck with Enoch, the crown prince whom she not-so-lowkey stalked when she wasn't a modern woman wearing Margaret's skin. Enoch is all ready to be upset (and so, frankly, is Margaret, who's got real FML energy for the first few chapters), but he quickly realizes that this isn't the woman he knew. That nets him some serious points as well, because it proves that he's not a complete idiot. The Margaret he knew would have died before hiking up her skirts and going to stab fish with a homemade spear. This woman is ready, willing, and able to do it. He's still proclaiming that he hates her, but he's also spouting lines about her not being allowed to leave him until he says so, which is classic male love interest talk.

Although Margaret says repeatedly that the novel she's now stuck in was rated M, I don't think that's going to be the case for this manhwa. That's not really a problem, because it's frankly more fun and interesting to read about Margaret using both her book and real-world knowledge to survive – and she knows that the author wrote in some random anachronistic items, like sneakers and a first aid kit, that the original characters didn't recognize and therefore didn't use. That makes me question whether or not it was written specifically for someone to be reincarnated in, because Margaret can't wait to get her hands on the stuff and it stands to change her entire experience. I'm very much looking forward to reading more of this and learning about the circumstances that landed Margaret where she is – and seeing how she'll interact with those other male leads and the heroine once they all meet up.

Awakened on a deserted island as the despised villainess of the story “Beyond Survival,” our protagonist immediately encounters the Prince who loathes he. “Margaret” immediately seeks out ways of saving both herself and Prince Enoch, but finds that the game no longer plays by its own rules! Beset by monsters that come out during the day and a companion who does not trust her, she sets out to survive.

I find it somewhat human that with every season of reviews, there are a few that have similar patterns. A few seasons ago, everyone was being reincarnated as an evil character with a creepy laugh. Then it was as a beloved child. Now manhwa is in its survival on a deserted island season. I do appreciate the determination with which protagonists develop skills they could not possibly have had in their former lives, but also, almost none of them seem to process any of the trauma they surely must be under for suddenly being ripped from their lives onto a fantasy deserted island. I'd probably be crying hysterically while trying to build a shelter and fire. No, here, Margaret tells us she actually has experience spearfishing in her past! Not in the ocean, she helpfully clarifies, but seriously, come on.

For a male lead, Enoch is no dummy. Right away he can see that there's something different about Margaret compared to her former behavior. Thank heavens, but one more dark, glowering, smart but dumb male lead was going to lead to my (intellectual) demise. Of course, Enoch is perfect. Two days into sweaty work surviving on a deserted island, his clothes are still clean and pressed. It was therefore a great relief that he wasn't a dumbass. With a tentative truce in place, they set out to meet the remaining characters.

The art is quite nice, and the story moves slowly, but steadily forward. There are quite a few chapters to read, so you can immerse yourself on a desert island for at least a while and watch while Margaret survives.
