AREA35 Reveals TINY METAL ZERO LINE: First Teaser Online After the Anime's World Premiere at Japan Expo

Pilot episode directed by Hiroyasu Kobayashi (Studio Khara, Evangelion) with animation studio SAFEHOUSE premiered on July 9 in Paris

PARIS, FRANCE - July 15, 2026 - The TINY METAL anime finally has a name: TINY METAL ZERO LINE. AREA35 unveiled it at Japan Expo 2026, Europe's largest celebration of Japanese pop culture, held July 9-12 at the Parc des Expositions de Paris-Nord Villepinte. The pilot episode received its world premiere on Thursday, July 9 on the festival's Kuri Stage, in front of an audience who became the very first in the world to see it.

The series is directed by Hiroyasu Kobayashi of Studio Khara, the studio founded by Hideaki Anno and home to the Evangelion saga. His credits include CGI Director on Promare and Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. He joins forces with animation studio SAFEHOUSE (Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance), which is already creating the cinematics for TINY METAL 2.

TINY METAL ZERO LINE is set in the universe of TINY METAL, AREA35's turn-based tactics franchise and the studio's first title, released in 2017.

The reveal capped a landmark outing for AREA35. The studio's conference, hosted by Kayane, also featured a live drawing on stage by Yūsuke Kozaki, character designer of Fire Emblem, No More Heroes and Pokémon GO. Throughout the festival, visitors lined up at the AREA35 booth to play TINY METAL 2, the sequel expected in spring 2027, which brings naval battles to the series for the first time. Every signing session with the TINY METAL 2 staff was fully booked, with guests including composer Gō Shiina (Demon Slayer, Tekken, Tales of), AREA35 founder and CEO Hiroaki Yura, and professional cosplayer Eiri appearing as Lysandra from TINY METAL 2.

AREA35's summer continues in Germany. PROJECT BLITZ, the studio's other project, which was playtested by attendees at Japan Expo, will take the spotlight at gamescom, held August 26-30, 2026 in Cologne. More details will be shared closer to the show.
