BBC Radio Collecting Together Ghibli-Related Programmes

BBC Sounds is collecting together several programmes, most of which are already available at this page on the BBC's website, following new broadcasts on Radio 4Extra.
The programmes are:
"Studio Ghibli," a 2025 episode of the "Screenshot" programme hosted by Ellen E. Jones and Mark Kermode, described in more detail here.
"Joe Hisaishi," a 2025 interview and profile of the Studio Ghibli composer.
"My Neighbor Totoro," a 2022 episode of the series "Free Thinking" discussing the Studio Ghibli classic (pictured).
"The boy who brought anime to life in Pakistan," a 2025 programme about the Pakistani animator Usman Riaz, his love of Studio Ghibli films, and how Riaz went on to create the animated feature film The Glassworker.
"Howl's Moving Castle," a 2021 dramatisation of the Diana Wynne Jones novel which was the basis of the 2004 Ghibli film by Hayao Miyazaki.
"Studio Ghibli - Japan's Oscar-winning animators," a piece on the creation of Ghibli.
"Studio Ghibli: The next generation," a 2021 programme on Goro Miyazaki and his film Earwig and the Witch.
"Spirited Away: The Little Secrets of Great Works," a reflection on one scene in Spirited Away by the author angela Hui.
"When Marnie Was There," a 2006 dramatisation of Joan G. Robinson's novel which was the basis of the 2014 Ghibli film directed by Hiromasa Yoneyashi. It will be available following the programme's broadcast on 4Extra between Monday.
"A Wizard of Earthsea," a two-part dramatisation of the first of Ursula Le Guin's "Earthsea" novels which inspired the 2006 Ghibli film Tales from Earthsea by Goro Miyazaki. It will be available following the programmes' broadcast on 4Extra between Tuesday and Thursday.
