Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Spinoff Prequel Casts Connie Nielsen, Stana Katic

Entertainment news website Deadline reported on Monday that Connie Nielsen and Stana Katic are joining the cast for Apple TV's spinoff series to the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters series, part of Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment's "Monsterverse" franchise.

Nexus Point News revealed the spinoff prequel series in November 2025, which will star Wyatt Russell playing young Lee Shaw (his father Kurt Russell played the character in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters), as well as Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, and Nyasha Hatendi. The series is set in 1984, and sees the character Lee Shaw infiltrating the Soviet Union to prevent them from using a Titan monster to win the Cold War.

Joby Harold is the showrunner for the spinoff.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment's series featuring "Godzilla and the Titans" debuted with its first season worldwide on Apple TV+ in November 2023, and the second season debuted on February 27 earlier this year, ending with its 10th episode on May 1. The series is part of Legendary Entertainmment's "Monsterverse" Hollywood franchise currently includes the 2014 Godzilla film, the 2017 Kong: Skull Island film, the 2019 Godzilla: King of the Monsters film, the 2021 Godzilla vs. Kong film, and the 2024 Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The planned sequel to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is titled Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and will open on March 26, 2027.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the highest-grossing movie in the franchise, with US$570 million earnings worldwide, beating the 2017 film Kong: Skull Island, which earned US$568.8 million.
