Godzilla Minus Zero Will Be Released in UK and Ireland Cinemas on November 6

Anime Limited has released a trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero, the new Godzilla film from Godzilla Minus One'sTakashi Yamazaki. The teaser confirms that the film will be released in UK cinemas on November 6, including IMAX screenings.

"Anime Limited and TOHO Global are excited to announce that GODZILLA MINUS ZERO, the eagerly anticipated follow-up to director/screenwriter Takashi Yamazaki's Academy Award® winning Godzilla Minus One, will release exclusively in IMAX® and cinemas across the United Kingdom and Ireland from Friday 6th November 2026.

Now part of the TOHO Global family, Anime Limited are joining a worldwide collaboration set to make franchise history, with GODZILLA MINUS ZERO being the first Japan-produced film in the historic franchise to be released near-simultaneously in Japan, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and North America. The film's release in Japan on 3rd November commemorates “Godzilla Day”, celebrating the anniversary of the original film's release in 1954, before cinema's biggest kaiju stomps across cities in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and beyond.

The film is set in 1949, two years after Godzilla Minus One, and will open in Japan on November 3. Yamazaki returns as director, screenwriter, and VFX supervisor. Production is currently underway at TOHO Studios, with ROBOT producing the film and Shirogumi Inc. handling the visual effects.

November 3 is "Godzilla Day," which was the anniversary of the first Godzilla film's November 3, 1954 release. The Godzilla Minus One film similarly opened in Japan on November 3, 2023.

TOHO and GKIDS have said that the first film, Godzilla Minus One, has earned more than US$116 million worldwide.

Godzilla Minus One won the Best Visual Effects award in the 96th Academy Awards in March 2024. The film is the first Japanese film to win in this category, and the first Godzilla film to be nominated for an Oscar.

Yamazaki's first English-language film Grandgear will open on February 18, 2028.
