Naoko Yamada Will Give Masterclass at Kilkenny Animated in Ireland in September

Animation Magazine reports that the director Naoko Yamada will hold a live masterclass at Kilkenny Animated, which will take place in Kilkenny City, Ireland from September 11 to 13. According to Animation Magazine, Yamada "will share her creative process, artistic influences and approach to storytelling, illustrated with film clips and delivered with translation throughout."

Yamada will also introduce a screening of her 2024 film The Colors Within.

The Kilkenny Animated event will also include the Irish and UK premiere of the feature film, The Keeper of the Camphor Tree, aka The Camphorwood Custodian.

Panels will include "East West Anime," moderated by Andrew Partridge, Chief Content Officer of TOHO Europe, and featuring the authors Helen McCarthy and Charles Solomon, discussing "how culture, language and translation shape anime's reception across markets."

McCarthy will also give "an illustrated talk on anime's journey to the West."
