New Fortnite Battle Royale Season Trailer Features Icons of Video Games

American video game developer Epic Games released the new season trailer for its massively popular game Fortnite Battle Royale. At just over 90 seconds long, the video features the new theme for the upcoming Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override." The video teases characters from several iconic video games, such as Sonic, Tails, and Dr. Robotnik from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise; Joker from the Persona franchise; Pac-Man and one of the ghosts from the Pac-Man franchise; Crash from the Crash Bandicoot franchise; Mega Man; Spyro from the Spyro the Dragon franchise; several Mortal Kombat characters; … and, while not characters, the Tetris blocks.
The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise teased its collaboration with Fortnite Battle Royale on August 11. The nine-second teaser features Fortnite Battle Royale character Peely running on a Sonic the Hedgehog-inspired course.
Fortnite Battle Royale is no stranger to collaborations with video game properties. The game has previously partnered with the Mortal Kombat franchise for a brief in-game collaboration in March 2025. Fortnite Battle Royale has also featured player cosmetics of Master Chief from the Halo: Combat Evolved franchise, Doom Slayer from the Doom franchise, and Solid Snake from the Metal Gear franchise, among others.
Fortnite Battle Royal Chapter 7 Season 4 “Override” will launch on August 20.
