posted on by Andrew Osmond

These editions are described as featuring "exclusive holographic art cards, unique for each season," and can be pre-orded from retailers including Amazon, HMV, Zavvi, Rarewaves, and Anime-on-line.com. The press release adds that, "In participating HMV stores across the UK fans will be able to celebrate the series in-store with all-new Sailor Moon cardboard standees."
Following Season 1's release on August 24, Season 2 (Sailor Moon R) will be released on September 28; Season 3 (Sailor Moon S) on October 26, Season 4 (Sailor Moon Super S) on November 30; and Season 5 (Sailor Moon Sailor Stars) on 11 January 2027.
Crunchyroll describes the story: "Sailor Moon follows the adventures of middle school student Usagi Tsukino and her talking cat Luna. Luna grants Usagi the power to transform into a Pretty Soldier in order to defend the Earth from the forces of the Dark Kingdom alongside her fellow Sailor Soldiers."
As depicted in retail listings, the Season 1 Blu-ray is rated "15" for dangerous behaviour and includes an extra, "Behind the Scenes - The New English Dub." The other seasons are rated 12. (In March, the website of Britain's BBFC indicated that Season 1 was rated "15" due to the content of the fourth episode, "Learn to be Skinny With Usagi.")
Based on the manga by Naoko Takeuchi, Sailor Moon was adapted as a 200-part TV series in Japan, running from 1992 to 1997.
It was followed by a three-season reboot series, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal, running from 2014 to 2016. This was followed by a two-part film sequel, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal, in 2021, and then by a further two-part film, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos the Movie in 2023.
