posted on by Wonhee Cho

Kakao Games announced on August 6 that it will launch Supercat's The World of Dokkaebi, a new MMORPG based on the web novel Chronicles of the Demon-Slaying Cultivator, in October.
The World of Dokkaebi combines 2D pixel-art characters with 3D environments and draws on Korean folklore and Eastern fantasy. The game is set approximately 300 years before the events of the original web novel and expands its world with new stories and characters.
The game will feature a class-free combat system that allows players to customize their abilities through skill combinations, along with guild-based cooperative content. It will be available on PC and mobile with cross-platform support.
Kakao Games also announced that actor Ji-hoon Park, who played the main character in the webtoon-based live-action series The Legend of Kitchen Soldier, has been selected as the game's official advertising model. Pre-registration began in August, with an online showcase planned for September ahead of the game's October launch in Korea.
A global launch of the game has not yet been announced.
The web novel Chronicles of the Demon-Slaying Cultivator and its webtoon adaptation both do not currently have English releases.
