Chart-Topping Japanese Band King Gnu Debuts New Song 'Go Ghost' the Official Opening Music to the New TV Anime 'The Ghost in the Shell'

NEW YORK, NY (July 29, 2026) – Milan Records today releases “GO GHOST,” the latest track from chart-topping, multiplatinum Japanese four-piece King Gnu and the official opening theme to the recently launched TV Anime “THE GHOST IN THE SHELL.” Available everywhere now, the track finds the group showcasing their signature “Tokyo New Mixture Style” with its distinctive blend of alt-rock, pop and hip-hop rhythms. The result is an electrifying track that perfectly introduces the new era of cyberpunk action. The track is part of a historic milestone by King Gnu's founder and leader Daiki Tsuneta, who has also contributed the series' ending music “Blue” as part of his other musical collective, MILLENNIUM PARADE, marking the first time in history that both King Gnu and MILLENNIUM PARADE have provided theme songs for the same project. Produced by Science SARU, The Ghost in the Shell is now streaming in the US exclusively on Prime Video.

ABOUT King Gnu
A four-piece band from Tokyo - Daiki Tsuneta (g/vo), Yū Seki (dr/sampler), Kazuki Arai (b) and Satoru Iguchi (vo/k).
Their music, blending alternative rock with a unique pop sensibility, has been dubbed the "Tokyo New Mixture Style." Since their formation in April 2017, King Gnu has consistently garnered praise for their releases, whether independent or major, captivating a wide audience with their diverse works. In collaboration with the creative agency “PERIMETRON,” King Gnu's music videos and artworks have also gained significant attention and acclaim, establishing them as a band with a one-of-a-kind world in music, visuals, and live performances.

They made their major debut in January 2019 with the album Sympa and achieved a smash hit with the digital release of “Hakujitsu” in February. In 2020, their album CEREMONY topped the Oricon Weekly Charts and sold over 500,000 copies, establishing them as one of Japan's leading rock bands.

Another milestone came when their songs "Ichizu" and "Sakayume," the opening and ending themes for the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, earned them their first-ever No. 1 spot on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart. In November 2022, marking their fifth year since debut, the band held their first two-day Tokyo Dome concert. From May to June 2023, they embarked on the CLOSING CEREMONY tour, a grand finale for the CEREMONY album, attracting 230,000 fans across four major outdoor stadiums in Japan.

Their momentum continued with "SPECIALZ," the opening theme for the TV anime Jujutsu Kaisen Shibuya Incident. This song became a smash hit, surpassing 100 million streams in just two and a half months—making it their fastest streaming record to date. 

On November 29, 2023, King Gnu released their 4th album THE GREATEST UNKNOWN. From January to March 2024, they held a five-major-dome tour across Japan, followed by an Asia tour across four cities, with seven performances, drawing a total of 400,000 fans. In February 2026, they launched King Gnu CEN+RAL Tour 2026, visiting more cities than ever before in the band's history.
