Set Match! manga about girl in soft tennis club debuted with 2 chapters on August 7

Manga creator Kotono Katō launched a new manga titled Set Match! in Kodansha's Comic Days app on August 7. The manga debuted with two chapters.

The manga centers on Haruha, a timid girl who is is careless with punctuality. On the entrance ceremony at her new school, she sees an upperclassman she likes, and decides to join the soft tennis club because of it, only to find out that the club is led by a teacher who is strict on punctuality. Haruha's mood begins to sour when she compares herself to everyone else in the club, until her teacher gives her a piece of advice.

Katō launched the Altair: A Record of Battles (Shōkoku no Altair) manga in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine in 2007, and ended in November 2023. Kodansha published 27 compiled book volumes for the manga. Kodansha USA Publishing releases the manga in English digitally, and published the 27th volume in December 2024.

The manga inspired a television anime adaptation that premiered in July 2017. Amazon Prime Video streamed the anime, and its now-defunct Anime Strike channel streamed it in North America.

The series inspired the Shōkoku no! four-panel manga on Sirius' official website in 2012. The magazine also serialized Shiina Soga's Shōkoku no Altair-san (Altair of the Tiny Nation) spinoff manga from 2012 to 2013. The main manga also inspired Hirokazu Kobayashi and Chika Katō's Shōkoku no Altair Gaiden: Tōkoku no Subaru (Subaru of the Island Nation) spinoff manga, which debuted in Monthly Shonen Sirius in January 2016, and ended in its seventh volume in September 2019.
