Deadline: Disney+ Cancels New Power Rangers Series

Live-action show will move past development stage according to report

Deadline reported on Thursday that Disney+ and 20th Century TV have canceled the companies' planned live-action Power Rangers series and that the show will not move past the development stage. Deadline's sources stated the cancellation is budget related rather than creative.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz were brought on to produce the show. Hasbro would have also produced the show.

Power Rangers Dino Fury, the latest series in the Power Rangers franchise, premiered on Nickelodeon in February 2021. The series is based on, and repurposes footage from, Kishiryū Sentai Ryūsoulger. The show's second season debuted on Netflix in March 2022. The third season, titled Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, debuted on Netflix in September 2023.

Netflix streamed the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always 30th anniversary special in April 2023.

Digital Eclipse and Hasbro released the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind game digitally for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch in December 2024.
